Tyler Case and Brian Versek from Mycopolitan Mushroom Company come to Greensgrow to talk mushrooms! The workshop will focus on the skills and materials necessary to start growing delicious and medicinal mushrooms at home. They will introduce you to the important roles of Fungi in nature, and discuss mushroom cooking tips too.

Everyone will receive a mushroom grow bag to start growing at home. The kit features a mushroom strain grown on straw, coffee and rye. Properly maintained, the kit will yield up to 2 pounds of delicious mushrooms over a 1-2 month period. Included is everything you’ll need to grow mushrooms at home: a spray bottle, humidity bag, instruction sheet and ongoing email support from Mycopolitan farmers.

Tyler and Brian have established Mycopolitan Mushroom Company, Philly’s first urban mushroom farm, which intends to serve local restaurants and markets with gourmet mushrooms while researching new exotic varieties and methods for improving agricultural systems and supporting local hobby growers.
